A bridge is a fixed appliance that replaces missing teeth. The bridge consists of normally two crowns that connect to the anchoring teeth (also called abutments) and are attached to the artificial teeth (also called pontics). The pontics replace the gap that is created by the missing tooth or teeth. The material used for bridges usually consists of a metal or zirconium coping with a porcelain covering.
